Dress: David's Bridal

From the moment I did their lifestyle in-home engagement session, I knew that Amanda was a girl after Joanna Gaines own heart. From the farm house and field, to the donkey that "came with the house", they were living a country girl's dream.

The wedding was no exception.

The ceremony was held on their own property, in front of a historic tobacco barn (if you don't know the area, Robertson County Tennessee is known for it's history of "dark fired tobacco", where the tobacco plants are harvested locally, then hung from the rafters of black barns and left inside to smoke for days, emitting a sweet smell similar to s'mores) with primitive dark wood benches laid out like pews. A babbling brook wound parallel to the ceremony site and a white wooden swing framed the scene.

But first, Amanda posed for a few bridal portraits. The french doors of her bedroom balcony did the trick.

And the stairwell leading to the basement called for a dramatic candid.

The path to the ceremony was lined with subtle touches of decor.

Their dogs watched the ceremony alongside the bridal party.

One of Amanda's requests was the first kiss with the audience behind. This makes for a fun shot to remember everyone who attended your big day.

Tip: Be sure to tell your officiant to stand to the side just after pronouncing man and wife!

Just up the property from this little wooded alcove lies acres of open fields.

This field is home to Ellie the Donkey.

A clear and white tent and draping provided the perfect, formal reception area. A bathroom trailer was provided nearby for guests.

Amanda set up this living room style scene in the field for their family photos.

Yard games (giant Jenga and cornhole) were available to entertain the guests, and the bride and groom enjoyed them as well.

The whole hog was served for dinner. Literally!

The couple posed for a few couple's portraits in the field and barn.

Dancing under the stars completed the night. Christmas lights hung on poles and a portable bluetooth speaker made this simple and affordable!

I hope this gives you inspiration for how to hold your own Hallmark style backyard wedding!
